MUA Haul & First Impressions

MUA (Make Up Academy) are a brand that I have totally fallen for since the beginning of 2012. It's amazingly affordable, incredible quality and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Recently they reached 50,000 likes on their Facebook page, and to honour that milestone they held a 50% off and free worldwide delivery offer. So being as smitten with them as I am, I took advantage.

Since I've taken more of an interest in make up I invested in some of the Real Techniques brush sets last year and I've been loving them. They're not overly expensive, but they're not overly affordable either. So when I found out MUA were releasing their own set of brushes I got ridiculously excited, I already own the E2 and E3 eye brushes, but I wanted to try out some of their face brushes. So I ordered the F4, F5 and F6, from first look they seem incredibly soft, the style is classic and I definitely think they'll be used daily for my make up.

I picked up a lot of eye products because that's where I experiment with colour and style the most. I was torn with the Contour Liner Pencil colours, but I ended up with Sage and Gunmetal. Sage is a little more grey than green, and Gunmetal looks quite purple toned on the skin, but they're highly pigmented and really soft, so I'm looking forward to experimenting with them, I think I might end up buying Mint Green soon though. I really want to try using Gel Eyeliner in my make up as well, so I bought the shade Fairground, which is a very shimmery grey colour, I think it would look really nice with the Gunmetal liner. I also picked up one of the Intense Colour Eye Liner Pencils in Forest Green. I love this colour, its a shimmery green, really wearable and I think it'll look amazing in the waterline. The last eye product I bought was the Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette. I've been using the MUA Pro Brow Kit since October last year and I love it, but I see bloggers using the MAC brow pencils and their eyebrows look so good, so I'm going to attempt to use this, but I'm not particularly delicate, so it may go terribly wrong.

My favourite nail varnish from MUA is shade 10, a shimmery gold, so I decided to pair it up with Shade 11, which is a shimmer silver, can't wait to try it out, their nail varnish's are only £1 full price and have incredible pigmentation. I finally got the lipstick in shade Bare, I've been trying to get it for so long, but it was always out of stock. It's a really nice neutral beige toned pink, really wearable and perfect for everyday, dare I say a 'your lips but better' colour (I hate that saying, but it's so true).

Last but not least I picked up three face products. First off I got the Brush on Concealer Pen in Radiance, from a swatch I've got a feeling it's too dark for me, but I'll use it and see how I get on. Then I bought the new Matte Perfect Loose Powder in Translucent. I love my Seventeen Shine Control Powder, but it's nearly gone and at half price I couldn't miss this one. Last but not least, was possibly my most risky purchase, the Bronzed Perfection Bronzer. I'm not one for looking orange, and I've never fake tanned, but I really want to learn to contour. I've got the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder on my wishlist, but this product seemed perfect for trying the method out. It has a little shimmer in it, but not too much, so I think it'll work well as a tester, I'll let you know.

All of that for £15, thank you very much. I love my MUA make up, and if you're just getting into using make up, or just want to try out new things, it's the perfect place to look. I can't wait to use my new products, and there might be a review or two to come soon. So, until next time...
