Bottom of the Bag Lip Loves

Now, I know it's not just me, who once a week decides it's time to clean out my bag, mainly from receipts, chewing gum wrappers and other such rubbish. I do find that each time I end up doing this, I find way too many lip products lying around in the bottom of my bag than I need. Whenever I clean out my bag I leave one in there, and by the end of the week there's at least 5 or 6.

Recently on my bag detox days I've been finding the same 5 products in my bag at the end of the week. Which is a testament to them, I'm very fickle with lip products, it's one of the things I change up the most in my daily make up. So what's so good about them?

The one lip product that I purposefully leave in my bag each week is the Maybelline ColorSensational Gloss in 610 Naked Star. A few weeks ago I expressed how much I used to love these lip glosses (I've mentioned 710 Ivory Beige way too much), and when Anna re-ignighted my interest in them it's lived in my bag ever since. It's a peachy brown shade, and it gives a really nice sheer wash of colour, there's a little bit of shimmer, but not so much it looks unnatural. I love this for every day use, it's not sticky, it leaves my lips quite moisturised, I would say, as with most lip glosses, this needs re-applying during the day, mainly after food, but it's such a lovely product, it's my default go to.

Then comes the added extras, starting with the colours. I've always loved the Rimmel Apocalips, they're so amazingly pigmented, smooth and long-lasting. I always find 101 Celestial rolling around in the bottom of my bag, usually when I've been wearing an all black outfit, just to brighten it up for Spring. Celestial is a really lovely dusky pink shade, it's a little darker than other pink lip colours I own, but I think when pinks are a little darker they make me feel a little more grown up, sophisticated even! The Apocalips are an amazing product, there's a lot more drug store liquid lipstick versions hitting the shelves these days (maybe a comparison review is needed?), but I've loved these since the start.

The other colour drop in my bag is in the form of the L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire. I purchased this last month, you would've seen it pop up in my Drugstore Beauty Haul. I absolutely love this product! I've got the shade 600 Nude Vibrato, and it's beautiful. There's another nude shade in the collection, which is more pink based (it might be making an appearance in my stash pretty soon!), but Nude Vibrato is the peachier of the two. It feels so silky smooth, not at all sticky, the formula is oil based so really feels soft on the lips, and when the shine wears away during the day, it leaves a really subtle stain. My go to choice when I'm wearing whites and greys.

The last 2 lip loves I always find are less colourful, but super moisturising. The Nivea Lip Butters are really affordable and offer your lips plenty of care. I have Raspberry Rose which other than being an amazing lip butter, tastes and smells amazing! There's not much colour to this product, but it does give a little wash of baby pink to the lips, a very subtle colour, but it just adds that little final touch to a simple every day look.

Finally, I always find my Sleek Pout Polish in 963 Bare Minimum. I had this in a glossybox a few months ago (one of the only things I enjoyed out of my Glossyboxes for about 5 months, but you can read more on that here). It's another very sheer colour giver, I find it's a diffused version of the Maybelline gloss. Really lovely for those days where I find I don't want much colour on my lips but I still want to add that final touch to my make up. Out of all the products I have, this is the one that smells the most of that generic make up smell, but if you can get over that, it's a really lovely every day product to throw on.

Do you have any products that you always seem to find hanging around in your bag?
It's detox day again today, so we'll see what's left next week.

  1. I'm always finding Rimmel Apocalips in the bottom of my handbag too. Those and Mac lipsticks, I have a bit of a Mac lipstick addiction! Did these change throughout the year or were they still appearing at the end of the week? Sammy xx
